Abstract

Obstetrics is that the field of study targeting pregnancy, childbirth and therefore the postpartum period. As a medicine, obstetrics is combined with gynecology under the discipline referred to as obstetrics and gynecology (OB/GYN), which may be a surgical field Obstetrics and gynecology are medical specialties that specialise in two different aspects of the feminine genital system. At Virginia Beach OBGYN we offer care to women altogether phases of their lives whether or not they are having a baby or are past menopause. Obstetrics deals with the care of the pregnant women, the unborn baby, labor and delivery and therefore the immediate period following childbirth. The obstetrician ensures that mother and child get the simplest prenatal care to make sure labor and delivery is accomplished without complications which should intervention are needed, it's done quickly and safely. Gynecologists and obstetricians both affect the wellbeing of females and obstetricians especially affect pregnant mothers. The procedures and functions that they perform include Normal delivery and performing essential assisting steps. Obstetricians are liable for working together with midwives to watch and assist normal delivery during a woman during labor. Their functions include facilitating delivery by performing episiotomy that involves placing strategic cuts over the perineum of the pregnant mother to enlarge the passage. Sometimes prolonged labor might require assistance to hurry up the method so as to scale back maternal fatigue and foetal distress (rising pulse and possible brain damage to the baby). This uses techniques like delivery and vacuum assisted delivery. Caesarean (or C) section that needs surgical removal of the baby from the mother’s womb to scale back the complications that arise during labour.
